Back
Pain
Over
90% of people experience at least one severe episode of lower back pain
at some point in their life. Fortunately, 80% of these episodes
resolve spontaneously within two weeks and 95% within one month. During
this time, treatment consists of symptomatic care with anti-inflammatory
pain medications and activity modification. We ask that patients not
engage in activities that are painful but otherwise stay as active
as possible. If back pain becomes chronic, then physical therapy is
prescribed. For chronic pain, other treatments, such as steroid injections
and surgery, are considered on a case-by-case basis.
